A scientific expedition to Antarctica is animated through 42 pages of an artist's journal. This work was made during an Antarctic Arts Fellowship with the Australian Antarctic Division (V7, 2002), with support from the Australia Council for the Arts.

Through the portrait, still life, landscape, garden, letter, and child, artworks, animations, sounds and words, reveal known and unknown generations of an Australian family. This work was part of Roget's Circular, the artwork illuminating the Macquarie Library's first electronic edition of their Thesaurus (2001).

Ice and water can be used as metaphors for self-reflection. Evidence of climate change is found in Antarctic ice cores: carbon in the landscape and its creatures. These objects symbolise the carbon cycle, whose global changes we affect.
